I've installed a do-follow plugin on my blog. This is a good thing for everyone who reads and comments on skeet’s stuff. Did you know that you don’t get counted as a link when you comment on most blogs? That’s because there’s a “no follow” code built into them that keeps comments from being counted as links when google spiders crawl around, so the comments don’t exist as links. By installing the plugin, I’ve enabled the spiders to find you when you comment here. Pretty cool, huh? Your pagerank is determined by ingoing and outgoing links, so this will help you get credit for commenting on blogs that do follow.

The D List

I don’t understand why WordPress and other blogging platforms come with a no-follow installed in code. Some devious and dark reasoning in someone’s mind, I’m sure. But there’s a whole movement afoot to insure that an ever-growing sector of the blogosphere gives and takes credit where due. My friend Cass over at Mothering Many has added me to the D List. I’ll be adding others to help help the movement spread virally across the internet. Here’s how you do it:

1.Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and link back to the blog that put you on the list in the paragraph. This isn’t a suggestion. You need to break up the duplicate content. Someone took the time to add you so the least you can do is give them an extra link back.
2. Copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your blog. If you would like a different keyword for your blog then change it when you do your post and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword.
3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the “Originals” list.
4. Add at least 1 new blog that you KNOW is using the DO FOLLOW plugin to the list in the “My Adds” section. (Add no more than 5!) Let the people you’ve added know, so that they can keep the list going!
5. Leave relevant comments on the blogs listed and get a link back to your site thanks to Do Follow!
