Do you have audio on your blog?
I want to install an audio player on my blog. I’d like to make some of my favorite local music available to those who would like to listen to it when they visit. I will need to be able to load it with music from my own CD collection (after I figure out how to get that into my computer) and have a menu so that my readers can select what they want to hear. I need suggestions for a player that will install easily (keeping in mind that I’m a complete doofus with these things) and that would be user-friendly for whoever drops by. Searching for audio players online isn’t helping me much because I don’t know whose testimonials to believe. I trust the opions of my regular readers, so I’d really appreciate some feedback from those of you who know these things.
Oh, and I guess the quesiton I should be asking first is whether it’s legal to put selections from my own CDs out there. I’d hate to have to buy music downloads online for things I already own, but I’m not interested in infringing on anyone’s copyrighted material either. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?
Mahalo!

Well skeet, i dont think the local music would be avaliable online for streaming on your blog, the best i can think of is that you use the widget provided by http://www.box.net/
Step 1 : Sign up
Step 2 : Add you music files from your comp to the widget (you will need to first save the music files for the CD to your comp)
Step 3 : Add the widget code to your blog
Have made one on my blog for you to check out, see it it works for you
have it on http://funny.koollog.com/ the sidebar

Mahalo Kiviniar! This is embarrassing, but I did the boxnet opp a while back & the widget is already in that post on my site. I looked at it & couldn’t figure out how to get anything in it, so I just let it drop off the page. I’ll install it in the sidebar & see if I can get some music into it. It’s certainly user-friendly from a visitor standpoint!

If you do do it, please don’t set it to autoplay.
That is THE most annoying blog addition ever. Second would be glittering, scrolling text.

Go to http://www.stickam.com/ and sign up. It is free and you can use it to play videos and show photos as well. The only bad thing is that you have to use MP3 or WAV files, so no ripping songs off of discs.

I awhile back I had a flash player that played mp3 songs on my site, but it took a little too much room so I decided to scrap it.

Kat, no way will I install one that starts automatically. I hate that, even if it’s music that I like, I want it to be individual choice. No flashing stuff either. Too gaudy for me!

Whim, I know nothing about MP3 or WAV. I knew this was going to get confusing and require me to learn new skills.

Yeah, Tina, I want something that will be at the top of my sidebar and always visbile, but not annoyingly large or looking like an eyesore.
So far it looks like the box.net one might be best. It certainly fits in the looks department. I’ve never even copied CDs to my computer. I’ll fool with that tonight or tomorrow before I decide on a player.
