Where laws exist (like in Florida) they are not being communicated to the people doing enforcement - like local police departments that don't know that cyber-stalking is a crime and laugh off complaints because they "aren't real." More awareness is needed and we (bloggers) are in the position to help create it.I'm hoping that everyone who has read this has blogged it themselves and urged their readers to do the same. I'm glad to see people sharing the information and passing links along so that we can all get together and do something about this. It is sad that law enforcement doesn't seem to care more about this. I think it might be in part because it's so difficult for local police to deal with things which cross state lines. I know I hear from my husband how hard it is to deal with something that crosses out of their city line and into the county jurisdiction, on the one hand things like this are easily federal cases, but reporting them to local departments where they have to go through so much red tape and butted heads, and in some cases probably don't care or think people are being hysterical...just makes it all the harder. I am glad to read that states are recognizing these things and making legislation.
