Self Portrait Sunday - Mother’s Day, 2007
Son was not dressed until five minutes before we had to leave, so I coudn’t post this morning. This is me with the reason that I get to celebrate today.
We went out to eat, then spent the day shopping and taking pictures. He’ll be here for a week, so we’ll be doing some touristy things and murdering each other around the Scrabble board & who knows what else. Nice to be able to cook for someone again! Go to Digi-Cass to see how others spent their Mother’s day.

I am glad you had a great mother’s day. I am unfortunately several states away from my mom, but hopefully I will be seeing her soon and it won’t have to be a phone call.

I can’t really travel, Karen, so we have to get together when he is able to work out time off from his job. It was a long wait between visits this time. Hope you and your daughter are having a wonderful time together.

I hope you get to visit with your mom soon, Cade. Having an ocean between us makes it hard for my son and I to get together, but I think that helps us appreciate each other more.

Do you allow Hawaiian words in your scrabble games?
I can imaging that would be hard on the vowel stockpile.

Martin, our rule has always been that we can use foreign words that are in common usage in the English-speaking world. If it’s just the two of us we’ll also bring in additional common Hawaiian words that we both know but that wouldn’t be familiar to anyone who is not from here or doesn’t speak Hawaiian. Aina is “the land.” Hanai is “adopt.” Ohana is “family.” Hale is “house.” All common in local conversation, regardless of the origins of the speakers.

Ami-chan, he’s been trying to visit for the last six months and the plans kept getting screwed up. He backed his boss in a corner to make it work this time so he could be here for Mom’s Day. We’re having a great visit!

We’ve had a god week, Tricia. He’s flying out tomorrow so he can sign up bright & early on Saturday for Bay to Breakers (I think it’s the first day of registration.)
I see quite a bit of his Dad in him, but he’s got some of me too, for sure.
