Neighborhood view

Can you see him?

I’ve been trying to get a picture of this for ages. Always in the past the photo was marred by trees, power lines and rooftops blocking the view. Last weekend my son and I followed some signs to a house being auctioned right across the creek from my home. All this time the perfect view has been waiting right around the corner.

Ape Mountain

Here’s a closer shot. You can see why the neighborhood kids call this Ape Mountain or Gorilla Mountain! :D

  1. This is a great photograph. Yes you can see the ape in the mountain - I could see it even before I read your sentence underneath.

  2. Those are incredible photographs. I can see the gorilla … what unusual shapes.

The sky looks so blue and warm.

  3. Sara, in my more whimsical moments I like to think our ape is a guardian of some sort, watching over the community. :D

  4. Kate, I’m just glad I finally found a spot where his whole face is visible without powerlines & trees cutting him off, lol!

  5. Wow! That’s an awesome photo. It’s crazy how clear you can see the eye of the gorilla, awesome picture, even the one of the neighborhood, very pretty with all the clouds.

  6. That is so cool! He does look like he’s watching over your neighborhood.

  7. Mike, the color looks a little washed out in the lower photo. I didn’t do any adjustments, so I’m not sure what’s up with that, but, yeah, we get a lot of lovely blue skies.

  8. And it’s super-cool, Elizabeth, that you didn’t go straight to spam this time. :D

  9. OMGosh, it looks just like King Kong!

  10. I’ve always thought it would be pretty cool to go up there & carve in the rest of his face, Jules, but I suppose nature knows best. :)

  11. Oh that is a lovely photo! I love how the sky contrasts with the mountain (that does look like a gorilla!) and the palms. Very nice Skeet.

  12. Even plain old suburban scenes usually have some pretty neat backgrounds over here, Tricia. You should see it when the mountains are green. This is the Leeward, very dry, so the green doesn’t last, but it’s beautiful for a short while.
