New consumer review site

Do you remember a few months ago when I asked for your help in selecting a camera? Anytime I’m buying something more durable than my groceries for the week I try to do my homework. Y’all were pretty helpful as I looked at the various features I wanted and the sophisticated digital engineering that perplexed me. I’m happy with the camera I chose and I hope you’ve all been enjoying the photos I’ve shared. There’s a new search tool just coming online that could have helped me also. Testfreaks.com draws information from numerous product review sites into one location so you don’t have to surf around endlessly to find comparisons.

It could have been a great benefit to me to see their digital camera reviews when I was still shopping. I searched and compared for several weeks before I bought. I thought I had found the best camera for my needs at the best price available. I learned this morning through Testfreaks that I could have saved an additional $40.00 off of the discounted price that I paid. It’s good to know they’ll be fully functional the next time I’m ready to shop because finding the best price is as important to me as finding the right product. The site is a little rough right now, but they’ll be launching soon and I predict it won’t be long before they get a lot of traffic from folks like me doing comparision shopping. If you’re a webby type and want to help them polish up their site, they’re also launching a web-developers forum and you’re invited to lend your expertise as they build the next generation consumer information site. I’m glad they sponsored this post so I’ll know where to start next time!

  1. I’ve been to TestFreaks too. It looks like it could be a really good resource when they come out of beta and add all the site features that they keep telling up they’re going to do. :)

  2. I repeated my camera search with them, even though I’ve actually already bought the camera. Lot of useful info, and all at one place, so I really like it.
