One of my dreams in life …
is to someday own enough property to have my very own banyan tree.
They take up a lot of real estate, that most valuable of all possessions in Hawaii, so it’s a dream I’m not likely to ever realize.
Aren’t they just the most lovely and mysterious and majestic trees you’ve ever seen? Since I’ll probably never own one, I conside it a real blessing that there are plenty of them around for me to visit when I get that longing.

I know how you can get a Banyan… move to Panama. Real estate is not so expensive.

The Greatest Spread of a tree occurs on a Banyan tree in the Indian Botanical Gardens in Calcutta. It has 1,775 prop or support roots, a circumference of 1,350 feet, covers three acres, and dates from before 1787.

Wow! That’s gorgeous. I love Banyon trees too. I have some great pics of Banyon trees that I took while I was in Florida - really old trees. Lovely.
