One of my dreams in life …

is to someday own enough property to have my very own banyan tree.

Banyan tree

They take up a lot of real estate, that most valuable of all possessions in Hawaii, so it’s a dream I’m not likely to ever realize.

Aren’t they just the most lovely and mysterious and majestic trees you’ve ever seen? Since I’ll probably never own one, I conside it a real blessing that there are plenty of them around for me to visit when I get that longing.

  2. What a cool tree. You don’t suppose they’d survive up here in Zone 4, do you?

  3. Wow..those are awesome. And Denise is right, I also have heard that a lot of people are buying real estate in Panama.

  4. Have you considered the option of living IN a banyan tree?

  5. I just got my brother together and we climbed up a local banyan tree for a family photo. We gave it to mom for mothers day and she flipped. Get this…

The Greatest Spread of a tree occurs on a Banyan tree in the Indian Botanical Gardens in Calcutta. It has 1,775 prop or support roots, a circumference of 1,350 feet, covers three acres, and dates from before 1787.

  6. Wow! That’s gorgeous. I love Banyon trees too. I have some great pics of Banyon trees that I took while I was in Florida - really old trees. Lovely.

  7. I love banyan trees, they are so beautiful.

  8. They are amazing

  9. […] to use this garden for a GTS post when I took the pictures, but the banyan is so marvelous I had to share it the day I found it. I think it’s worthy of more than one […]

  10. That’s a lot of real estate for a tree, great trees though.
