Bloggers beware!
I’ve made no secret of the fact that I blog for money. Some folks don’t like it, but its my blog and I don’t apologize for doing what I do. I hope to eventually be in a position where I can earn enough online to give up my day job, which is very physical and getting harder for me to do as I age. The blogosphere is full of folks like me, each with our own reasons, who want or need to make money blogging. There are a number of different companies that want to employ our services, and the prospect of developing blogging into a supportive income is not an unreachabel goal.
Last month I told you about a new service that was recruiting bloggers. After I wrote that one sponsored post for them I decided that they might not be people that I wanted to deal with. A number of us exchanged information about them on a message board and I was one of many who chose not to produce further posts for them. Today my friend Brett has shared some information that seems to expose them as less than honest. Go see what he has to say about Bloggerwave’s apparent bad faith move. It’s inevitable that some people would see the blogger/writer community as a target for fraudulent practices. Our best defense is the sharing of information, and that happens to be what we do best. If you are blogging for bucks or you know of others who are, I hope you’ll share Brett’s post and help us spread the alert throughout the blogosphere. There’s a lot of room for growth and innovation out there, but none for this type of shenanigans. Let’s get the word out and keep the marketplace open and honest.

Great Post Skeet, I unfortunately was one of the ones that got screwed. I always heard what comes around goes around

Thanks for sharing this with us, Skeet. I did a few for them as well, haven’t gotten paid, and with the disclosure of all of this, I’m kinda glad I didn’t. What a mess. Why does there always have to be “one” out there who makes it look bad for the rest of them that are truly “good and decent”. I will pass on the word at my blog. thanks again for sharing.

After reading about this on Kat’s site, I deleted my two Bloggerwave posts and I changed my password at PayPal. I had just emailed them this weekend demanding to know when they were going to pay me since it had been almost six weeks since I wrote my first post for them. Now I know they have no intention of paying me at all. It pisses me off.

Flo, a lot of us were somewhat suspicious of this service right from the start. Guess we should have listened to those inner voices and just backed away from them. We’ve learned a lesson, though, so I guess that’s a good thing.

I only lost the ten bucks for one post, Beth, but I know others got burned more badly. I changed all of my info on my profile over there so it’s all bogus now and they don’t have my PayPal or email anymore.

Sorry that you got ripped off too, Crolyn. Do pass the word on to other bloggers, because the site is still up and recruiting.

You probably don’t wan’t them having access to your PayPal account anymore anyway, Elizabeth. Did you change your info on their site?

Like so many others, I wrote a couple of posts for Bloggerwave as well. As soon as I finish this, I’m going to delete them and take care of the now-necessary paypal security changes. And I hope whoever monitors this stuff figures out a way to prosecute the suckers!

I wrote two posts for them. I received an email letter from them that had me suspicious. I posted it on my blod. I did some hunting and found others who faced similar issues. I pulled those two posts.
