Self Portrait Sunday for June 10, 2007
It’s too darn hot! Ordinarily I would be hearing children playing in the street in the middle of a Sunday in paradise. Lawnmowers and weed whackers should be providing background noise. Instead the neighborhood is as silent as a tomb. The air is not filled with the aroma of Sunday dinners being cooked and meats being grilled outside each home. It’s just too hot to move! I suspect the neighbors have all made the same choice that I did, to forego cooking today. I opted for a roast beef sandwich instead of my usual “big” Sunday dinner for my noon meal. I’m wearing as little clothing as possible and might just strip that off & spend the afternoon reading nekid in front of a fan. The furkids aren’t easily offended, so I can do that, right? Just until the trade winds return - no peeking, okay?
See how others are keeping their cool at Digi-Cass, where nekid faces are the norm!

I hadn’t been to your blog for a while and your blog looks so different. You’ve become quite the blogger. Who would have thought?

I was glad to be on the second floor today because I was sitting around in my skivvies! Had plans to do some major cleaning, but it was too warm without my A/C working well, so I just sorted papers instead. I’m sure I’d have boiled alive where you are!

The sandwich looks good. As long as you enjoyed it that’s the main thing.
You don’t have air conditioning in your house? or is it so hot the a/c doesn’t matter?

Well it´s hot(nearly 30°C) here in nothern Germany, but I reckon no way as hot at at your end of the world. I´m enjoying my day in the shade of our only apple-tree with a self made rhubarb-dessert.
I love your self-portraits, especially the last one with the sun-glasses and gloves-and I am very pleased you liked Hesse´s poem, one of my favorite!
By the way could you explain the word “skeet” for me, I could not find an explanation anywhere.
Viele Grüße
Sisah

Techie, my friend, you should get out more often, but with little ones underfoot we’ll forgive you if your priorities are elsewhere, lol!

Jennifer, my house has all ceramic tile floors and stays about twenty degrees cooler than my neighbors. I was really hot today, so I don’t know how they stood it, especially when a water maiin broke and we had no water for hours!

I have a window A/C unit in my office,Cat, but none for the rest of the house. The weather is so mild that it’s not needed most of the time, but I’d love to have it so I could shut the windows & block the dust!

Sisah, it’s not usually this hot here, but we’ve had no trade winds lately so it’s been pretty miserable.
“Skeet” is now used as a dirty word by the hip-hop music crowd, but that’s not where my name came from. Here’s the story: Skeet is not a dirty word.

I hope it cools off and the trade wins are back soon.

Hey Skeet!
Have a great week!
Man, aren’t you the happy visitor??? It is oppresively hot in Dallas, too! I’ve been in the yard sweating like crazy. Can’t strip down, ’cause the neighbor’s 2nd story looks right in my yard. When will that silly Wax Myrtle I planted just grow?? When you see those trade winds you talk about, will you send them my way?

I’m sending a cool breeze your way.

yeah, it was hot hot today. More hot because I was still shovelling rocks to anchor the deck and put in the stone pathes.
