Friday frivolity
Today’s indulgence is brought to me by … me!
I thought about it on the 4th of July. It would have been an appropriate end to the traditional picnic or babecue. But it was hot and I was feeling lethargic and I never left the house.
I thought about it yesterday. I even intended to go to the store and pick up the necessary components. But I got distracted by various stuff, so I never left the house.
I thought about it this morning, but, quite frankly, the very idea made me queasy. Food and I don’t get along early in the day.
I thought about it this afternoon. It’s hot and I was feeling lethargic. Ahhhhhhhhh! I found a cure for that!
Have one on me. Go ahead. You know you want to.

That looks good. I’ve actually been thinking about one since the 4th too. I think this weekend I will have to indulge.
Skeet, did you see the turtles released on the Big Island on the 4th??? I thought of you!! Turtle Independence Day.

I’m all for this, but I can’t endorse the diet root beer.
It’s a root beer float for heaven’s sake!

Oh, that looks good! I wanted a float the other day, but didn’t have any rootbeer, so I used a Raspberry Diet Rite instead. It was fabulous.

That is the best answer on a hot day here.
Interestingly, I have all the components here. I’ll make myself on Sunday… and definitely my son will want one too!

My favorite kind of indulgence: pictures! No calories. Then again, no yummy, creamy root beer, either.
I may just have to run to the store now and get the makings so I can have one myself.

gasp
is that an actual treat? You go, girl!!!!!! I wen tout today and bought myself more clothes. They actually fit. We’re getting there, aren’t we???
July 7th, 2007 at 1:02 pm, skeet Says:
Help yourself, Marj. Sad fact is that I can’t have ice cream or carbonation, so the rest of what I bought will go to waste.
July 7th, 2007 at 1:03 pm, skeet Says:
I totally missed it Flo, even though you gave me plenty of notice. Senility setting in, don’t you know. Maybe I can find it online, though.

Double scoops for you, Pelf, my turtle-loving friend!
July 7th, 2007 at 1:05 pm, skeet Says:
The diet root beer was an error born of old habit, Mark. I can’t have carbonated beverages, but back when I could I always bought diet. You’re right, though. Regular would have made all the difference.

Rootbeer is best, Lady S.E., but any soda will do in a pinch.
July 7th, 2007 at 1:10 pm, skeet Says:
Why wait for Sunday, Imran? Root beer floats are sheer indulgenece - have two!
July 7th, 2007 at 1:11 pm, skeet Says:
Charlotte, that’s entirely too long. It’s July - you must, have a root beer float!
July 7th, 2007 at 1:13 pm, skeet Says:
A picture of a root beer float is too tempting, isn’t it, CM? I recommend that you fulfill the craving immediately!
July 7th, 2007 at 1:14 pm, skeet Says:
Day at a time, Cass - day at a time. I advise that you put on one of your new outfits and enjoy a creamy, ice cold root beer float!
July 7th, 2007 at 2:27 pm, Carolyn Says:
Like some others, I haven’t thought about one of these in years. We used to have them when I was kid. And I’ve probably had one or two since then, but its been years. I know whats on my list the next time I go to the grocery store!
July 7th, 2007 at 3:36 pm, Kari Says:
For our housewarming party last year, we got A& W glasses. I think I will go make one now.
July 7th, 2007 at 4:06 pm, nelle Says:
Now that looks mighty tempting!
July 7th, 2007 at 9:53 pm, skeet Says:
Carolyn, skip the diet A & W and go full bore. We all need a total indulgence every now & then!
July 7th, 2007 at 9:54 pm, skeet Says:
I was wishing I had more apopropriate glassware for my root beer float, Kari. Should have called you up for the photo op!
July 7th, 2007 at 9:55 pm, skeet Says:
I have all the ingredients still, nelle! Come on over and I’ll even have another root beer float with you!

That looks like it would hit the spot right now. Thanks for making me take a break from the computer and make one.
July 8th, 2007 at 11:41 am, Loretta Says:
Oh yum! We’ve been having smoothies on the patio probably a little too often since we moved. Rootbeer floats sound so good, but probably not great for ever growing behind …. hmmm. Great little stitched napkin you’ve got there too!
July 8th, 2007 at 3:49 pm, tallfreak Says:
diet soda and regular ice cream??? lol It looks really good though! I haven’t made a float in ages!
July 8th, 2007 at 8:03 pm, skeet Says:
Hope you enjoyed your root beer float, Kevin!
July 8th, 2007 at 8:05 pm, skeet Says:
Loretta, definitly a root beer float in place of a smoothie every now and then! It’s all about indulgence! The napkin was in a box of stuff a moving neighbor dropped off on her way off-island. Hand-embroidered. I drag one of them out every now and then.
July 8th, 2007 at 8:07 pm, skeet Says:
Tallfreak, the diet root beer was a tactical error born of habit. I can’t have carbonated beverages anymore, but when I had them reuglarly it was always diet. I definitely should have gone with regular since I was having something bad for me anyway.
