Mahalo, y’all! Mahalo nui loa!
I went to bed about one o’clock this morning. Six hours later I awoke to find my blog, my personal email and my favorite message boards full of messages from folks checking up on me. My new hit counter (over there in the left sidebar) tells me I had two hundred visitors in those six hours. Yes, all is well at my place! The earthquake and Hurricane Flossie are major concerns for the Big Island right now, so I hope you’ll all direct your kind thoughts towards them. I’m prepared to evacuate if that seems prudent when Flossie gets closer, but so far it’s looking like she won’t be a huge threat to Oahu.
Looking at the map above, Oahu is the third outlined island from the left. You can see that Flossie is almost on top of the Big Island, but not yet a problem for us. We’re expecting some wind and rain later, and are prepared to deal with whatever Flossie brings us. The map is from the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Honolulu and you will be able to get the latest news there if we should lose power or fall out of touch for a while.
Thank you all again for your concern. It’s overwhelming to realize just how many friends I have out there.

I’m glad to hear you’re safe and okay skeet. Take care and be safe! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for ya that Flossie doesn’t come any closer to Oahu.

Mahalo, Joana! I really don’t anticipate that she will be a great problem, but it’s never wise to second-guess Mother Nature!

Aw, mahalo Whim! I’m sure we’ll be fine, but it feels all warm & mushy to have so many folks wishing us well.

Hope the forecast stays the same and you’re not in any danger, Skeet.

Amy, Flossie is slowing down and weakening as she gets closer to the Big Island. She’s now a Category 2 with sustained winds of 105 and gusts of up to 127. That’s still dangerous, but she is expected to weaken more before she passes Oahu sometime tomorrow. Keep the Big Island folks in your thoughts. We thank you very much!

Mahalo for your good thoughts, Foam! Looks like we’re out of danger for now. Brief tsunami scare today - I think we’ve run the gamut of alerts and warnings in the last three days, lol!

Mahalo, Lisa!

Mahalo, Dirk. Looks like we’re good to go if we don’t piss off any more of the gods. Earhtquakes, hurricane and tsunami warnings all in such a short time. Scary stuff.
