Jobs I don’t want
I was sitting in traffic waiting for a light to change when I noticed movement on the side of a building up ahead. They were about twenty floors up when I snapped this photo through my windshield. They must have started at the bottom and worked their way up, because when I saw them they were almost racing each other to the bottom. What makes someone decide this is what they want to do with their life? Can you imagine waking up one morning and saying “I’ve decided I want to spend every day dangling by a thread over empty space?” I get vertigo just looking at the photograph. You could strap an animal inflatable on my back so I’d bounce and I still wouldn’t do this from three floors up, much less go way up there in the clouds. Maybe I’m missing a gene for bravery, but I’m more inclined to think that they’re missing the one that opts for survival. What do you think?

You’d have to put a gun to my head to make me do that job, and even then I’m not too sure I’d do it!

I have a natural fear of heights, so NO. Over my dead (and decomposting) body, LOL..

No way i would do that. I am afraid of heights, last year my wife got me to go zip lining through the tree tops in BC - scared the you know what out of me.

Absolutely insane. Although, I would think the kind of person who takes this job doesn’t have much else of a choice.

Spoke to a guy who did that once. He thought it was great - he said he got to work out in the sun, and the view was great..and if it rained he didn’t work. But his best line was: “You only ever have the one bad day at work.” Eww.

Yikes! Nope. Not the job for me. (Neat photo, though).
Glad you seem to have gotten through the hurricane okay.

Whim, even a gun to my head wouldn’t get me hanging off the side of a building. I get vertigo just thinking about it, lol!

Same for me, Pelf! I have a terrible fear of heights!

Ad, I’ve never understood why people think moving fast through high space is “amusement,” lol! Not for me!

Jane, high rise work pays very well, but there’s not enough money in the world to get me to do that kind of work!

I couldn’t do it, Linda. I can’t watch the opening of Letterman because those soaring shots over the city make me cringe, lol!

H8 - I guess you NEED a sense of humor if your job comes with that level of risk, lol!

Mahalo, Wiz! Yeah, the hurricane wimped out after giving us all a few anxious days. Good to see you!

If the job depends on your ability to tie good knots, I’m outta luck.
What happens if you need the restroom halfway up (or is it down)?
