Self Portrait Sunday for September 23, 2007
So I got my eyes examined yesterday. My vision has actually improved quite a bit, so a new prescription is called for. I’ve ordered my new glasses and they should arrive next week. They’re pretty much a duplicate of the ones I’m wearing now. The vison test went very much as I anticipated in the post I did yesterday, with me feeling like a cheater but the doctor feeling confident that he knows what my eyes need. One thing he thought I needed was shades much darker than my regular clip-ons to protect my eyes until the pupils returned to their normal size after he blew them up with eye drops. He happened to have a stylish pair of sufficiently dark slip-ons handy, so I left his office looking totally glam (NOT!) My pupils are returning to normal and the slip-ons have be relegated to the drawer that holds numerous such trophies from past opthamalogical encounters.
Now I must trot off to DigiCass to focus my gaze on the self portraits of many friends. Won’t you join me?

Hot momma!
When I went to the eye doc a few weeks ago, they had this crazy eye x-ray machine that they used instead of dilating my pupils. It was very cool.

Your vision improved? I didn’t know that was possible… *starts wishing*
You look hot in those! *wolf whistle* I hate having my pupils dilated… it hurts!

You know what I always liked? I always liked those sunglasses that fit over regular glasses- you know, the ones that look like safety goggles. I keep saying I’ll look for them and my wife keeps “forgetting” to remind me about them while we’re out. And I don’t wear glasses. I just dig the style factor.

So that’s what those look like on people. I can never see myself when I’m wearing them.

Oh, Corrin, I’d love to have a fancy machine look inside my eyes instead of having to go through the dilation ordeal. Maybe my doc will have one next time I go in. That would be very cool!

Jennifer, my vison has been marginally better each time I’ve gone for the last few visits. This time it was significant enough that I was having trouble reading because my prescription was too strong. A nice change after a lifetime of them being worse each year!

Suni, I’m sure you’ll agree that I’m one of the few people in the world who can make those slip-on shades look totally cool. LD

Whim, hold your head up high, act like your the coolest kid on the block and you too can carry off wearing slip-on shades!

Frogster, I used to wear those safety goggles when I serviced oil processing plants and marine manufacturing shops. They get hot and foggy, even with the little perforations in the sides. You don’t really want them!
