Self Portrait Sunday for October 14, 2007

    Stuff 042

I had to go to the beach today to finish up some research and get a few more photos for a post I’m putting together. It’s a burdensome job, but someone has to do it. :D I went out the door with that nagging feeling - what was I forgetting? It was hiding in the back of my mind, though, so I finally had to let it go and get on my way. As soon as I got to the beach I remembered - camera batteries! I knew I hadn’t taken the spares out of the charger and had really intended to do that before going out. Sure enough, I took two of the pictures I wanted for that other post, then aimed for a picture at skeet-with-crashing-waves-in-the-background (part of my two birds/one stone plan) and ooooooooooops! There is was - a dead camera. I sat and enjoyed the beach for a few minutes more, then made my way home. Not wanting another self-portrait that showed nothing more than my face filling the frame, I decided to climb up on the carport roof and try for a shot with mountains in the background (Hawaii’s other scenery.) That was a bit problematic, too, because of my puny stature, the height of the carport roof and the neighbors’ homes in the background. It’s almost four in the afternoon. The dishes aren’t done and the ribs aren’t marinating for dinner. I think I’ll go with what I’ve got.

Did you do a self portrait today? Haven’t you been meaning to join us all every Sunday over at Digi-Cass so we can see your smiling face? Scenic background not required, I promise. Get it in gear - let’s see what you’ve got!

    2. Hee! Your boy takes good shots, Sarah. Now go to Self Portrait Sunday on Digi-Cass, grab an icon and join the madness!

    3. Skeet, awesome picture! I love the sky in the background like that, you look great! :)

    4. I think is my favorite pic so far! I even saved it (hope you don’t mind).

    5. I took several shots up on the roof, Loretta. I wasn’t happy with any of them, but I’m glad you’re not so picky. :D

    6. I don’t mind that you saved it, Whim, but I can’t imagine why! It’s a very unflattering angle - nose hair and two chins and chicken-skin neck to go with my inch of gray. Ah, well! I am what I am. I’ll accept it as a compliment that you like it, though. Mahalo, ma’am!:)

    7. This is a great picture!! I’m so jealous of that sky!

    8. Skeet, I always think you look so regal. Great picture!

    9. Very beautiful

    10. Corrin hit the nail right on the head - you always look so regal! That’s it! It’s a great pic - of the sky, the mountains, AND of you!!!

What happened when you tried to comment on my blog? eeeks! Will you email me and tell me, purdy please, ma’m! thank you!!!

    11. It was a beutiful day for beach-going and roof sitting, Jennifer! :D

    12. Mahalo, Corrin. Such a great background provides a nice distraction, doesn’t it? :D

    13. Mahalo, Ami-chan! I enjoyed my little mountain-gazing interlude. :D

    14. Mahalo for your kind words, Lisa MM!

I was able to get a comment box, but when I tried to post it kept going back to what I’d typed as if there was an error. It didn’t give an error message and I had filled in the two required boxes plus the comment field so I don’t know why it didn’t like me.
