Four Foods on Friday #14

It’s time to play with our food again! Val invites one and all to play Four Foods on Friday every week. It’s really easy. Just write a post on your own blog answering the four questions below and let Val know in her comments. She’ll give you a linkback when she does her roundup post of all the answers.

#1. Bacon. Chewy, crispy or burnt?
Chewy, please! I had pancakes and bacon for supper last night.

#2. Mayonnaise or miracle whip?
Mayonnaise!

#3. What green vegetable is used in Italian Wedding soup?
Hmmmm! Giada De Laurentiis uses endive, but I found several sites that call for escarole or spinach. Yeah - I cheated!

#4. Share a recipe that you use Italian sausage in.

Shoot! You caught me without a recipe again. I use it in marinara, soups and sometimes mix it with ground beef for meat loaf, but I don’t have recipes for any of those handy & it’s way past my bedtime. For meatloaf, use your favortie recipe, but substitute Italian sausage for about a third of the ground beef (too much will make it greasy.) Serve with red sauce. How’s that?

  1. i love breakfast for dinner! that was always a huge treat when I was little, and my mom would make a big spread when my dad worked midnights.

  2. Thanks for playing again! My Mom used to make us breakfast for dinner every week or two.

  3. Now see I have to have my bacon crispy.

  4. I like breakfast foods in the evening, Corrin. Some of them are a bit heavy and I don’t do well if I fill up early in the day. In the evening, however, I can just crash, burn and let all of that downhome goodness turn to fat. Yeah! :D

  5. Well, mahalo for letting me play, Val! I don’t do breakfast for dinner as often as I used to - it’s a lot of trouble when you’re only cooking for one. But sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do, kwim?

  6. I don’t dislike crispy bacon, Whim, but I really prefer it chewy.

  7. I guessed spinach and am glad to find out I was correct! I couldn’t for the life of me think of what I’d used Italian sausage for, but this morning I remembered that I’ve used ground Italian sausage in spaghetti sauce.
