Four Foods on Friday #16

It’s time to play with our food again, boys and girls! Val over at Fun, Crafts and Recipes will write a post tomorrow featuring all of the answers she gets from her readers. She’ll give you some yummy linkjuice, too, so you should get busy. Just make a post answering the questions below and linking back to her post. Then go over to her place and put a link to your post in her comments.

#1. What is your favorite kind of juice to drink?

I’m not a big juice fan, but I like grape or cran grape - the real stuff, not the diluted cocktail.

#2. Pizza. What’s your favorite?

I rarely send out for pizza anymore because DiGiorno’s is so good! I buy the three-meat variety and add anchovies. Protein overload!

#3. Mustard. Yellow, brown, depends.

Brown for sandwiches and such. The only thing I use yellow mustard for is frying fish. Coat the fish with yellow mustard before rolling in seasoned cornmeal. The mustard keeps the fish super moist and adds a tangy kick to the flavor.

#4. Share a side dish recipe that uses rice or pasta.

All ingredients in pot

Hope I haven’t used this for one of your FFoF’s before. Straight from my Southern kitchen, here’s the recipe I posted a while back for Dirty Rice. Yummy stuff. You should do more questions that let us play with organ meats. :D

  1. Okay, I was thinking how good the pot of rice looked until I read the words “organ meats”! This especially hit me because I just cleaned up my daughter’s vomit from all over the bathroom floor, and bathtub, and walls…. (I’m sure you’ve been there!)

  2. Skeet - I like you, but I may need some more convincing on the anchovies and organ meat. :-)

  3. […] Skeet uses mustard when preparing her fish for frying and has shared a recipe for dirty rice complet… I’ll have to find out why they call it dirty rice. Skeet runs a fun photo game called Tuesday Teasers as well as a good news roundup called Share Some Good Stuff on Thursdays, and she writes terrific reviews of hidden object games. […]

  4. Lynne, I grew up eating “cheap cuts” of meat, including livers & gizzards and beef tongue. They’re very flavorful, but it takes some getting used to for folks that didn’t learn to appreciate them as kids. I don’t eat kidney’s though. Now that’s just nasty! :D

  5. Aw, c’mon Corrin! Try something new and different! :D

  6. Ah, someone else who eats weird meat pieces! Although my husband would be glad to hear of someone else who eats anchovies. He always looks at me strange because I’ve eaten tongue, kidney, livers. Oh, and haggis. LOL

  7. […] shared her recipe for Dirty Rice yesterday, and I was going to take her word for it that “organ meat” was indeed tasty […]

  8. THat does look good, as long as I don’t know what’s in it at all!

  9. It really is tasty, Kari, but yeah - some folks would rather not know what it’s made of! :F
