Four Foods on Friday #20
I’m running late today, but here’s my Four Foods on Friday contribution for this week. There’s still time for you to play if you hurry. Answer the four questions below on your blog, then post a link to your answers in the comments for Val’s Four Foods on Friday post (linked above.) Val will comment on our posts later today and give us all some link-love in the process.
#1. What type of m&m is your favorite?
I prefer peanut M&Ms, but since I can’t digest nuts anymore I have to settle for plain.
#2. Peanut butter. Smooth, chunky, creamy. How do you like it?
Creamy. With local honey. On whole wheat bread.
#3. Do you usually drink out of glass, acrylic, Tupperware type or paper cups?
Plastic. I’m a clutz and have hard, ceramic tile floors.
#4. Share a chicken recipe.
Chicken Adobo (Filipino)
1 1/2 to 2 pounds chicken, cut into bite-size pieces
Enough olive oil to cover the bottom of your frying pan
1 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon minced garlic
handful (may 1/4 cup) bay leaves
Brown the chicken pieces over medium heat and continue cooking until just done. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer until the flavors are blended - about ten to fifteen minutes. Skim out the bay leaves and serve over white rice.
I use boneless, skinless chicken thighs for this recipe. Dark meat is jucier and leaving out the skins gets the fat content down to acceptable levels. Pork with the fat trimmed off also makes a delicious adobo. You can leave the pieces whole, but chopping it up gives better flavor distribution. I cut the meat with my kitchen shears.

Skeet–thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving me a comment! Yes, it is SCARY to think that these kids that get left behind will be taking care of business when we are old! Ack! Yikes! When will the powers that be figure out that it’s for the good of our nation to make sure they ALL get a good education?

Thanks Skeet, I have a bottle of cider vinegar sitting around and I don’t quite know what to do with it (LOL), so I’m going to try your chicken recipe.

Honey & peanut butter make the best combo, Karen - a whole new taste treat! And, yeah, I’m a total clutz!

Mahalo for the return visit, Kpasa. I had the red carpet rolled out just in case you stopped by - I like to recognize folks who are dedicated to helping our kids!
Hope Dad is having a good weekend.

Ah, Corrin - another creamy pb fan! I’ve never seen much point in griding it into a paste if you’re going to leave chunks, kwim?

Cider vinegar and lots of bay leaves are what make the taste of adobo just right, Chili Queen. Hoep you enjoy it!
March 8th, 2008 at 10:35 am, skeet Says:
Do you make your own adobo, Blair? I used an envelope or bottled sauce for years, but it’s so easy to make I just do it myself now.

Hee! I’m glad someone noticed, Sarafina! It didn’t seem right not to mention how I cut the chicken, lol!

That’s an interesting recipe. Darn their being garlic in there. I doubt it would taste the same without it.

I’ll have to try that chicken recipe sometime. It sounds wonderful!
March 9th, 2008 at 6:35 pm, skeet Says:
Make it without the garlic, Ami-chan. It will stil be good.

It’s really a very tasty dish, Whim and extrememly easy to make. It’s one of those “local” foods that we et a lot of over here. Try it sometime!
