Four Foods on Friday #32

Stuff 699

Yeah! I’m posting my answers to Four Food on Friday early enough this week that you’ll see it in time to join us! Yay for me! You do want to join the fun, don’t you? All you have to do is copy the questions below and answer them in a post on your blog. Put a link to your post in the comments for Val’s post, given above. She’ll gather up all of our questions, make some acerbic comments about them and give us all a little linky love sometime soon - probably late tomorrow. It’s very easy to join in - you won’t even need your Papermate pens - just your keyboard and an appetite!

Are you ready for the questions? This week it’s all about movie food:

#1. What snacks do you eat at the movies? Do you buy them there or bring your own?

Hee! The last time I went to the movies was when Star Wars Episode 1 was released. Episode 1 was the one where all of the theaters had to install new sound systems & stuff, right? Anyway. I was in Dallas and took my son and the two nephews to see it. 1999, I think? I watch my movies at home these days and eat … whatever I want. The kitchen is right there and the pause button is so handy, you see!

#2. What’s your favorite food movie, or movie that shows a lot of food?

Soylent Green ;) Actually, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, because isn’t chocolate the whole point in living?

#3. What food or meal do you wish was available at the movies and why?

I don’t plan on going any time soon, so I’ll leave it up to the rest of you.

#4. What’s your most favorite way to make popcorn? Hot, cold, buttered, air, microwave, chocolate, caramel, you get it.

I love old-fashioned, pan-popped with real butter and parmesan cheese, but I usually settle for microwaved stuff with fake butter, or with no topping at all.

Darn! I had to pop a bag for the picture. Guess I’ll have to go take a movie break now!

  1. Pan-popped tastes much better but I had a couple of disasters so I stopped trying :(. Is there an idiot-proof way of turning out perfect pan-popped?

  2. You said Soylent Green!! ROFL!! That’s hilarious! :D

  3. I like the added touch of adding a picture. With the price of movies and the snacks that they overcharge us, I think you have the right idea to stay home.

  4. Soylent Green is PEOPLE! It’s PEOPLE! rofl!

  5. Eeeew! Soylent green. That was bad Skeet! LOL I’m with you on staying home and watching Dvd’s. So much more comfy.

  6. I wish I could tell you how to pan-pop and get perfect results, Clair, but there’s a reason I stick to microwave these days, lol! :D

  7. I was feeling just a little evil, Anele! :D

  8. DeBee, a little hint: posts with pictures that show right under the title draw more traffic. People who land on the site while casually browsing just have to scroll down and see what’s going on.

I bought some new movies yesterday and intend to spend some qulity time at home with them this weekend. :D

  9. Does Soylent Green still give you the creeps, Elizabeth? I can still remember exactly how I felt the first time I watched it and realized where the nourishment was coming from, lol!

  10. Yeah, I was being a bad girl, Karen. Shame on me! I’ll watch an uplifting movie on DVD and see if it can give me some better habits. :D

  11. It’s unbelievable. Yet another movie I haven’t seen.
    Thanks for playing FFOF!

  12. […] Skeet likes pan popped popcorn with butter and parmesan cheese and her favorite food movie is Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. […]

  13. If you don’t like Soylent Green, there’s always Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, complete with theme song!

I think I need to go eat some popcorn now. ;)

As for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which version do you prefer? Gene Wilder or Johnny Depp? I like both, but I think I prefer the older version. Gotta love that Oompa Loompa in the new version though. They should’ve given that guy a special award for doing all those different moves.

  14. My grandma always made the best pan-popped popcorn. I’m going to have to try to make it myself.

  15. I love Parmesan on my popcorn, too. Try out this recipe for Italian popcorn…I think you’ll like it. :)

  16. I picked the same movie because I am also a lover of chocolate!

  17. There’s something to be said for both versions, Hyphen8. I prefer the Gene Wilder version overall, but he Johnny Depp version - well, it’s Johnny Depp, duh! Both actors did terrific jobs of conveying the bizarre aspects of the main charater, but Depp is, mmmmmmmmm - easy on the eyes!

  18. It’s esay to abandon the old methods in favor of convenience, Corrin, but I hate it that the skill of pan-popping is another art that’s being lost. We all really should learn how to master it, don’t you think?

  19. I copied the recipe and will be trying it the next time I feel inspired to pop up a bag, Sarafina. Need to get a canister of parmesan. I’ve only been keeping the fresh grated stuff on hand, but the shaker can of dried parmesan is a must for popcorn. mahalo for sharing Rachel’s reicipe!

  20. I’m not sure life would be worth living without chocolate, Crafty Lady. I’d hate to ever have to find out, wouldn’t you?
