Tuesday Teaser photo verification
Remember a few months back when several of my blogging buddies won a stand mixer and at least one of them had a contest to give one away? What you see above is my reason for hoping so fervently that I would win one for myself. My trusty old Betty G hand mixer has been with me for about thirty years. It’s not fancy, but it’s reliable. How many birthday cakes has it helped me make over the years? How many Thanksgiving dinners has it helped me prepare? These days we buy a counter-top appliance and expect it to last two or three years before a replacement is needed. My poor old coffee maker will be on the junk heap soon, and it’s about three years old. I’m adding daily to the mountains of stuff that I’m stockpiling for a grage sale, but I generally hang onto things that work, so I guess old Betty G will remain with me for a while. Oh, I’d replace her without a backward glance if a multi-function, all-the-bells-and-whistles stand mixer were to come my way, but barring that I can’t see any reason to get rid of her. She’s got the franchise on reliability. Gah! I think I’ve turned into my parents, but I have to say it: they just don’t make ‘em like they used to!
