Four Foods on Friday #47

Today is Friday. I know that. Surely I knew it late yesterday afternoon when I noticed my neighbor dragging his rubbish bin to the curb for pickup. I must have known it when I spent an hour cutting up palm fronds and plumeria branches and bagging them up, right? And when I dragged my own bin to the curb before going to bed, I did that because I knew it was Thursday night and rubbish pickup comes early on Friday, didn’t I? So can someone explain to me why I only just now realized that today is Friday and I haven’t done a Four Foods on Friday post yet? Siiiiigh! Nevermind. I don’t think I really need the answer to that. Let’s just move right along to the FFoF questions instead.

#1. Share a recipe for something Italian.

It’s late and I need to get this published. I’ll try to insert a recipe here later.

#2. Jam, jelly, preserves, marmalade, fruit butter or butter. What’s on your toast or bread?

I eat a slice of plain whole wheat toast every morning for nausea control. I rarely think to eat toast any other time, but there’s grape jam and apple butter in the fridge. Love them both on biscuits!

#3. What’s your favorite Kellogg’s product? (Since they’re multinational I’m hoping everyone can answer this one. If you don’t have Kellogg’s products, what’s your favorite cold breakfast cereal?)

I’ve never outgrown Frosted Flakes. They’re grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!

#4. Do you like liver? What about liverwurst?

I love the stuff. I can’t find calves liver in Hawaii, but I make liver & onions with beef liver frequently and I love deep-fried chicken livers. Liverwurst & bacon make a wonderful sandwich, especially when constructed on an onion bun with melted cheddar. Primo!

  1. Reading about Frosted Flakes made me think about my husband being called “Tony the Tiger” when he was growing up. :)

  2. Why did I know you were going to have a thing for liver? LOL

  3. Yep, Tony the Tiger is alive and well in blogger land!

  4. I like Frosted Flakes too! I’m afraid we’ll have to disagree on the liver thing though. LOL!

  5. You’re the second person to mention apple butter. It sounds like something I would like. But I’ve never had it and I’m curious. Do you make it or can you get it at the store?

  6. Kelloggs found a good thing in those Frosted Flakes. Everyone seems to love them.

  7. You just reminded me, I had the BEST apple butter this summer at a restaurant in Tennessee. They normally sell it, but their gift shop was closed so I couldn’t get any. I could have probably eaten an entire jar all by myself in one sitting!

  8. I love Frosted Flakes too. You’re a braver person then me with the liver. I’m not sure if I like it because I’ve never really actually tried it.

  9. I HATE Frosted Flakes, probably because I was stuck with em when I was a kid. Corn flakes are great for green x-mas wreaths with red cinnamon candy “ornaments” though. I can’t get enough of those things.

  10. And do you call him Tony the Tiger during those special moments, Charla? Bet you do! :D

  11. Because I have strange tastes, Anele? I’m a picky eater so I guess it’s strange that I like liver, but I just do!

  12. Tony the tiger seems ot have a lot of adult fans, Karen. Cherished icon of our youth, I suppose.

  13. That’s only because you’ve never tasted my liver & onions before, Evelyn. People who don’t like liver have liked mine. Well, actually just one person, but still … :D

  14. My mother made apple butter a few times, Chili Queen, but I’ve never tried to do it. Look for it right beside the jams and jellies at your grocery store. I like Bama Butter best. Yum - just found a recipe for you: Crock Pot Apple Butter.

  15. I’ve heard of a few people who don’t like Frosted Flakes, DeeBee, but only a few. I think most of us like them because they stir up nostalgia. When I taste them I’m ten years old watching Saturday morning cartoons with my sis and brothers.

  16. It’s a shame the gift shop wasn’t open when you were there, Lynn. Maybe you can get it online?

  17. I think if we thought too much about most of the animal products we eat, we’d all be vegetarians, Sue.

  18. Oh, I love those red-hot cinnamon candies, Satsuki. I could never use them in a craft project because I’d eat them all up, lol!
