Self Portrait Sunday for May 10, 2009

Self Portrait Sunday for May 10, 2009

The plan was to spend the day having a hospital room picnic at my aunt’s bedside. She had surgery last Tuesday and a few complications afterwards. She’s feeling pretty good today and hoping to be released soon. I woke with a bit of a fever this morning, along with nausea and a splitting headache. I had a heat exhaustion episode while working in the yard yesterday, so that’s probably all that’s wrong with me. It didn’t seem prudent to expose Aunt Martha to anything, though, so I’ve stayed home “just in case.” Good day to catch up on laundry, webbby stuff and other chores. I’ll be getting a call from the kid sometime later today. He’ll wish me a Happy Mother’s Day and tell me that he’ll be mailing something special to me soon (his procrastination is one way you can tell he’s my son.) I’ve got numerous dogs and cats to keep me company while I stay busy and wait for my call. Hope you’re all having a wonderful Mother’s Day!

There’s still time for you to join in on the Self Portait Sunday fun. Take your own picture and put it on your blog. Then go post the link over at Midlife Musings. Cass hasn’t posted yet, but she’s Mom to eight wonderful kids, so she’s probably having a busy morning, don’t you think? When she gets time to update we can all visit with the other picture-takers and leave some more Mom’s Day wishes. We’d love to see your smiling face there!

    1. We had some disappointment earlier but things are looking up for this evening.
I hope you have a good phone call and are feeling better soon.

    2. Thanks -feeling much better, Ami-chan! Didn’t get the phone call, though. Thinking he’s probably lost the phone number for the cousin I’m staying with. There are no cell towers way out here in the country, so if he called it my cell will have archived a voice mail that I can open next time I’m closer to civilization.

    3. Happy Mother’s Day!

    4. Sorry you had to scrap your plans for yesterday, but I’m glad to read that you’re feeling better. Hope you have a lovely Mother’s Day voicemail when you wander back towards town :)

    5. Glad you are feeling better. That quilt is so pretty.

    6. Good that you are feeling better.

      HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO YOU!!!

The house looks big and beautiful.

    7. Mahalo, my friend. Hope you had a good one with your mom, too!

    8. My son left a voice mail, Jennifer, and I finally got it today, lol! I’d already talked to him by then, though, so it’s all good. Definitely need to get a cell phone with local service soon.

    9. I love the quilet, too, Nellie. The photo is in the guest room I’m currently occupying at my cousin’s house. Doesn’t she make her guests comfy? The bed, dressing table and a matching dresser are family heirlooms from her hubby’s grandparents. I feel honored!

    10. Thanks, Imran! The house is my cousin’s place, but it looks like I have a buyer for my house in Hawaii, so I should be able to buy myself a new home here in Texas soon! I’ve been made to feel very welcome here, but it will be nice to occupy my own space again (and get all my STUFF out of storage!)

    11. Glad you’re doing ok!

      I love your quilt, btw…very pretty. :)

    12. Thanks, Sarafina! I love the quilet, too! It’s on the guest bed in my cousin’s home where I’m staying until I get my own home again.
