Tuesday Teaser photo verification

Sorry folks - no winner this week. Silly me, I thought the photo snippet was a little too obvious & that the puzzle would be solved quickly. If you haven’t been keeping up with my blog (except on Tuesdays,) here’s how we got to Tuesday Teaser this week: A couple of weeks ago I opened a link on what I thought was a “trusted site” & got badly burned. The virus that downloaded kept replicating until, at one point, there were over 2700 “infections” in my system. My poor hard drive couldn’t take it. I managed to reboot several times last week, then on Sunday everything went kablooey. I lost everything: photos, documents, address books - everything. I had taken twenty or thirty photos last week of garden decor and harbor scenes and a few other things among which I had hoped to find our puzzle. With all of them gone I had to select a photo that I already had on Flickr - one that I used in a Four Foods on Friday post a few months ago. The current version of the photo editor I use is quite different from the one I had, so I had a heck of time doing a photo cut & finally just had to go with what I considered the best of several edits. Every time I looked at it I could clearly see that it was the crimped edge of a microwave popcorn bag, but I guess it wasn’t really that obvious. I can only tell you that I gave you my best effort and will try even harder next time. I hope you’ll give me another chance. I’ve got an agenda for the weekend that includes a few fun places that might yield your next challenge! Oh, and I’ll work on improving my skill-set with the new computer and new programs, too. Wouldn’t want to make things too easy for you, ya know?

Tuesday Teaser photo verification

We have a winner! Megan has been bombarding me with answers each week lately, totally getting into the spirit of Tuesday Teasers. This week she made one guess that was off the mark and then had a moment of enlightenment. Reading her comment, there can be no doubt that she absolutely knows she’s guessed the correct answer. It made me chuckle and grin to read it!

Tuesday Teaser photo verification

Sorry folks - no winner this week. I’m always a little fearful when I do my photo cuts to put together the Tuesday Teaser puzzles. It’s difficult to know if I’ve chosen the right item, the best view of the item, the right crop to create an image that is tough but ultimately solvable. Somone that I spoke to about this one (waving hello to you-know-who-you-are-down-in-Texas) took a look at it for me and we realized that he was looking at the negative space instead of the positive space - he was trying to decide what the light-colored area was instead of seeing it as ” just space” between the items that actaully define the photo. I know from the types of things you posted as guesses that many of you were doing the same thing. That pretty much defines the difficulties I face when putting the Tuesday Teaser together each week. What I see is not necessarily what you will see. The end result is that there are no promotional items or giveaways this week, but make sure you return next Tuesday when we’ll do it all over again!

My computer is very, very sick today. The problem started last night and made it impossible for me to post. I’m working around it now, but with great difficulty. As soon as I finish this post I’ll put up some screen shots. If you’re the helpful sort I hope you’ll come back in a half an hour or so and see what you can tell me about what’s going on.

Tuesday Teaser photo verification

Apparently I’m supposed to stay at home on Tuesdays instead of going out to do little things like making a living or stocking my pantry with food. Whenever I go out on Tuesday’s I come home and find that someone has ended all of the fun by guessing the right answer to the Tuesday Teaser. Just can’t turn my back on you guys for a minute, can I?

This week the traitor is Jillybean. She just couldn’t wait to show off her vast knowledge of automobiles and has posted the correct solution. I detailed the inside of Hokulele (my 2003 Saturn L200) over the weekend. She’s been on my mind lately while I shopped for an auto insurance online quote and I decided she needed a little extra TLC. Ever alert to possible Tuesday Teaser photos, my eyes strayed to the hardware inside the doors. Twenty-some photos later I was pretty sure I had something that met my criteria: common enough to be ultimately solvable, but also common enough that we don’t really pay attention when we see it. The photo snippet I chose is the little stationary post that a car door latch latches onto to keep things snugly closed.

It’s getting harder and harder to find the right items to photograph as time passes (we’ve been doing Tuesday Teasers for over a year!) but I’m already hard at work looking for something to amuse and entertain you with next week.

Tuesday Teaser gift card winner for July

Didn’t we just do this? Oh, yeah! I forgot the drawing last month and ended up doing it very late in the month. I couldn’t let that happen two months in a row, so I tried to get the prize drawing for July done yesterday. That didn’t work out because the only folks I spent any time with were a couple of stressed-out homebuyers and their very intense agent. As I was driving home today I knew what I had to do. I needed to meet the guys who are building the new community adjacent to mine. You know, the ones who keep breaking our water main? I’ve got nothing against them. They can’t help it that part of their job includes hooking up new utilities to very old utilities.

This is James. I think he’s the site supervisor for the job. I always notice him when I drive through the intersection because everyone else always wears company tee shirts. James wears aloha shirts, so he stands out from the crowd. I usually see him standing next to one of the excavations, looking at and talking to the poor schleps down in the hole. We talked story for a few minutes and he thought it a fine idea that he should draw our winner for July from the magic mug.

Tuesday Teaser photo verification

Wow! At this moment there are 125 comments to the Tuesday Teaser post for this week! Some of y’all have been close to the correct answer since early on, but were a little too generic to tell me that you were there yet. “Bell” and “”old-fashioned bell” just didn’t do it, but Gina finally hit the nail on the head. It is indeed a call bell or service bell, the kind still used in hotels, restaurants and service establishments around the world. Order up! One winning answer now being served! Gina has won yet another linky love post and is the first entrant in the gift card drawing for August.
